2012
January
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics (VDT) successfully mastered the application of mobile hangars for the MRO of aircraft engines in severe weather conditions.
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH (representing VDT in Germany) was certified to EASA Part-145 and became the first company in Russia that is certified under this system on the territory of the European Union. This certificate allows for aircraft maintenance of Boeing 747-200/300/400 (GE CF6 series engines).
April
  • VDT GmbH performed a Boeing 747 A-check for the first time.
August
  • VDT started offering an engine wash service for its customers at Sheremetyevo Airport.
  • VDT completed the replacement of an external wing flap on for a Boeing 747-8 VQ-BLR at Sheremetyevo Airport upon the request of AirBridgeCargo Airlines.
November
  • VDT GmbH opened a line maintenance station at the Frankfurt Airport (Germany). The new station specializes in providing maintenance for Boeing 747-200/300/400 aircraft types.
  • VDT implemented an urgent modular engine repair at Chelyabinsk Airport at the request of I Fly Airlines. A mobile inflatable hangar was used successfully.
  • VDT received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to open a line maintenance station at Vnukovo Airport (Moscow). Thus, at Vnukovo Airport, VDT provides line maintenance up to A-check, as well as related services for Boeing 737 Classic and Boeing 747 family aircraft.
December
  • VDT received approval to provide maintenance services up to A-check for new aircraft types, notably the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG at Sheremetyevo Airport (SVO). VDT signed a contract with Czech Airlines for Airbus A320 maintenance up to A-check at SVO.
  • Volga-Dnepr Gulf (representing VDT in the Middle East) extended its aircraft maintenance and repair services in the Middle East with the addition of a new wheel and brake maintenance division in Sharjah, UAE. This enables Volga-Dnepr to offer wheel and brake servicing for various aircraft types including Boeing 747, Boeing 737Cl and NG, as well as Airbus A300, A310 and A320 aircraft.
  • Volga-Dnepr Group started operations in a newly-built hangar facility constructed by Leipzig/Halle Airport. The lease has been taken by Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH, the MRO provider which represents Volga-Dnepr Technics in Germany. The hangar facility has an overall area of 8,500 sq. mt. and is designed to simultaneously accommodate one АN-124-100, one IL-76, and one В747 or four single-aisle В737 or А320 aircraft. Maintenance time using the hangar can be significantly reduced. This has been proven by the first А-checks for АN-124-100 and Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines and AirBridgeCargo Airlines.
  • VDT completed the construction of a 20,000 sq. mt. hangar complex at Sharjah Airport. In the first quarter of 2013, VD Gulf held an opening ceremony for the new hangar, which can accommodate two wide-body aircraft or six narrow-body aircraft for maintenance and servicing.

  • Volga-Dnepr Technics extends its certificate for its line maintenance station at Sheremetyevo International Airport and receives approval for Boeing 747-8 and Boeing 737-300/400/500 aircraft maintenance services. The approvals cover line maintenance for Boeing 747-8 and Boeing 737 aircraft up to A-check.
  • In Moscow, the project to open an aircraft defects detection and rectification of electrical system repair shop is successfully completed.
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics offers greater service coverage due to a broader network of spare parts suppliers worldwide. This includes long-term agreements with: SPM Components & Support, Aircraft Maintenance Connections, Everest VIT GmbH, Air Spares and others.
  • The practice of using mobile hangars for maintenance of aircraft engines in severe weather conditions is successfully implemented.
  • Employees of Volga-Dnepr Technics (Leipzig) are issued EASA Part-66 European maintenance authorization.
  • The VDT maintenance base at Leipzig Airport successfully completes certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA Part 145) and gains authorization to perform maintenance and repair works on В747-200/300/400 airplanes. Thus, a Volga-Dnepr Group business unit became the first maintenance and repair organization in Russia to be certified in the EU under this respected certification system.
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics was among the first companies to receive a certificate of residence in the Special Economic Port Zone (SEPZ) in Ulyanovsk, where it intends to construct a multi-purpose aircraft maintenance and repair center.
  • Volga-Dnepr Group takes part in the Dubai Airshow for the first time. Several important long-term agreement are reached during the event and Volga-Dnepr Technics is positioned as a full-fledged MRO service provider in the Middle East market.
2010
Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH is incorporated
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH is incorporated in Germany (Leipzig/Halle Airport) as part of the project to develop an international maintenance network, and agreement is reached with Leipzig/Halle Airport for the construction of a hangar facility at the airport.
  • An aircraft structural repair shop is set up at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to provide composite materials and metal structure repair services (C-20).
  • A line maintenance station is launched in Sharjah (UAE) to provide line maintenance services for Boeing aircraft.
2009
Volga-Dnepr Technics is issued with an EASA Part 145 certificate
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics is issued with an EASA Part 145 certificate for line maintenance of Boeing 747 family aircraft.
  • Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow is incorporated in May 2009 to provide maintenance and repair services for the Boeing 747 fleet of AirBridgeCargo Airlines. The range of services covers line maintenance in accordance with EASA Part 145 authorization requirements and certain related services on the territory of Sheremetyevo Airport.
2008
Volga-Dnepr Technics is established
  • Aircraft Maintenance is assigned the status of a separate commercial product within Volga-Dnepr Group. A new company, Volga-Dnepr Technics (VDT), is established to provide maintenance and repair services for both Russian and foreign-manufactured aircraft, with bases in Moscow (Russia), Ulyanovsk (Russia) and Sharjah (UAE).
  • Volga-Dnepr Group becomes the first to apply for residence in the Special Economic Port Zone (SEPZ) in Ulyanovsk, Russia.
2004
The first flight of the Boeing 747-200 aircraft.
  • On April 23rd, operated by Vladimir Grebennikov, one of the airline’s most experienced pilots and holder of the Nesterov medal, a Boeing 747-200 made its first flight under the Volga-Dnepr call sign en-route from Moscow to Beijing. The AirBridgeCargo flight history had begun.
  • The introduction of foreign aircraft raised the question about the establishment of a unit for maintenance repair for the aircraft in Russia.
1996
Launching of a new foreign station
  • The first foreign line maintenance station was set up at Sharjah Airport, UAE. Volga-Dnepr was certified to perform maintenance services for AN-12 and IL-76 aircraft types.
1990
August 1990: Volga-Dnepr is born
  • The Volga-Dnepr joint stock company was registered in Ulyanovsk, Russia, with the registration number 1. The birth of the new airline also stimulated the requirement for high quality aircraft maintenance services.
