Quick response to B747-400 AOG

Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow (VDTM) responded immediately to an AOG situation involving one of AirBridgeCargo Airlines' Boeing 747-400 aircraft after the freighter received substantial damage to its horizontal stabilizer leading edge.

The damage was discovered on 7 March after the aircraft landed at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow. The most probable cause was ice contamination blown off the wings and hitting the stabilizer.

Four of the 10 mechanical defects required extensive non-destructive testing and communication with the aircraft manufacturer, Boeing. The necessary manufacturer recommendations were obtained and all defect rectification work was completed by VDT engineers in the shortest time possible.

The professional efforts of the structural repairs shop and 24-hour support of the AOG desk enabled AirBridgeCargo to return the aircraft to service within just seven days of the incident.
